A changing of the guard in East Rutherford could have the New York Jets looking a little different when they host the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
New York fired head coach Robert Saleh ahead of this Week 6 matchup while also taking the play-calling duties away from offensive coordinator Nathanial Hackett, turning the offense over to assistant Todd Downing.
Downing’s approach could be a boon for the running game, with tonight’s Bills vs. Jets predictions focusing specifically on rookie running back Braelon Allen.
I size up the spread, Over/Under total, and NFL player prop odds for Monday Night Football and give my best NFL picks for the Bills at Jets on Monday, October 14.

We’ve reached the midway point of the NFL season, and rookie quarterbacks are always front and center, with some living up to the hype and others not as much. With that, let’s look at how the 2021 rookie class fared in Week 9. 6. Zach Wilson source: Getty Images Wilson is out with an injury, and head coach Robert Saleh says the Jets are in no hurry to rush him back onto the field. After Wilson’s last couple performances, that might not be the worst idea. 5. Trey Lance source: Getty Images Now reports out of the Bay Area say that Kyle Shanahan has no plans on starting Trey Lance over Jimmy Garoppolo anytime soon. We also know that Shanahan once chose Jimmy G over Tom Brady. No, I’m not comparing the kid to Brady, but I am noting Shanahan’s lack of judgment in this whole pr…
Jordan Henderson has said fans booing England’s players for taking the knee achieves nothing and proves the fight against racism is far from over.
The row over the anti-racism action has threatened, in England, to overshadow the start of Euro 2020 and has led to Gareth Southgate’s players finding themselves on the end of an angry reaction from a section of supporters before games.

There were jeers before England faced Austria and Romania in recent friendlies at the Riverside Stadium and there are fears the dispute will rumble on when Southgate’s side meet Croatia in their Group D opener at Wembley on Sunday…
It would be no great shock if west London’s third-best team tumble out of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon. Chelsea, whose stuttering Premier League form has left them in the unfamiliar position of peering up at Brentford and Fulham, are not in a good place before facing Manchester City for the second time in four days.
An extensive injury list is pushing an unbalanced squad to the limit, hopes of Champions League qualification are slipping away and, as Graham Potter pointed out after losing to City on Thursday night, some “extreme challenges” are on the way for a club forging a new identity after the tumult of the past 12 months

Arsenal: Leroy Sané
With David Raya making his loan from Brentford permanent, Riccardo Calafiori joining from Bologna, and Mikel Merino expected to arrive from Real Sociedad before too long, Arsenal should now turn their attention to strengthening the frontline. They have been linked with Pedro Neto and Nico Williams, but they should be targeting Leroy Sané. Mikel Arteta worked with Sané during their time together at Manchester City and the German’s versatility across the attack would appeal to the Arsenal manager. The 28-year-old finished second for assists (11), ninth for key passes (72) and top for dribbles (93) in the Bundesliga last season.

With one day left from Day One of the NFL Draft, folks are either speculating about what teams will do, making stuff up to look cool on Twitter, or watching the clock until the event begins in Kansas City. So of course, the Detroit Lions had to make headlines again — this time about a potential draft selection. According to ESPN Detroit Lions reporter Eric Woodyard, former Georgia defensive tackle could be in play according to what Lions general manager Brad Holmes said at a recent media availability. “He came in and he did a nice job. Again, it’s always case by case. He came in, we enjoyed our time with him, he did a nice job,” Holmes said about Carter’s visit. “I’ll say even after he left his visit, I felt better about him.” The Lions have the sixth and 18th picks …
Rick Pitino announced today that he will stop coaching once his Louisville contract runs out after the 2016-17 season: "When you're 59, you're realistic that you don't have a whole lot of years left," Pitino said at a news conference before the No. 4 Cardinals play Georgetown on Wednesday. "My contract's going to run out in 2017. I'm not coaching any more after that." It's so nice to get advance warning. [ AP] …
This is the front page of today's Hamburger Morgenpost, ahead of this afternoon's Euro 2012 semifinal between Germany and Italy. It's a thing of beauty, or maybe stupidity. Yes, those are anguished Italian players in the pepperoni slices. Germany is weird. (The headline would best be translated as "End of the Line for Pizza." The subhed is "11 reasons why we will finish off [eating] Italy tonight.") Tough words, and tough cuisine stereotyping from a newspaper that has Hamburger in its name. …
Yesterday, The Big Lead picked up on a throwaway line in a Scoop Jackson chat and postulated that Jason Whitlock could be the next in line to leave the apparently sinking ship that is ESPN Page 2. Considering that Whitlock and Scoop are hardly the best of friends, we weren't quite sure how much faith we could have in that. But, turns out, it's true: We've confirmed that Whitlock is indeed leaving the site and could sign a deal with the all-of-a-sudden everywhere AOL Sports as early as next week. He should still be a fixture on ESPN television, but that's just because Lupica's got a thing for big guys. So, to take stock at Page 2: Since their arguable peak of three years ago, they've lost Whitlock, Hunter S. Thompson, Ralph Wiley, Dan Shanoff, Skip Bayles…
As a result of Colin Kaepernick’s collusion grievance against the NFL, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Texans owner Bob McNair, and Patriots owner Bob Kraft will have to turn over their phones, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Those three might not be the only ones, either: Others owners, teams and league officials also will be deposed, but those individuals have been confirmed for now. Tom Brady didn’t give over his phone, so it’s hard to imagine three billionaires doing that. I would love to know what they text about, though! Correction (2:05 p.m. ET): The original version of this post stated that the NFL was asking team owners to turn over their phones, when Schefter’s report actually isn’t clear on whether the court or league is making the owners do so. The article has…
